- A: No! Use code “GREENTOWNMEMBER” when registering.
Q: Is there a limit to the number of team members you can bring to the Climatetech Summit?
- A: No! Your entire team is welcome to come for free by entering the code GREENTOWNMEMBER at checkout.
Q: Can I participate in both Houston and Somerville?
- A: Yes! Your company can participate in both in-person or attend one of them virtually by watching the livestream!
Q: What if I can’t attend in person? Are there ways for me to still participate?
- A: The Climatetech Summit will be streaming both days virtually.
Q: How long does the event typically last?
- A: Climatetech Summit is an all-day event spanning from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
- Please note the showcase will be in the Town Green and Prototyping Lab, and setup will take place on November 3.
Q: How can I participate as a member?
- A: Greentown Members can participate in the following ways:

Q: My team does not plan on showing anything in our lab space. Is there a way to close that space off?
- A: For companies with lab space, we encourage you to cover/hide anything you do not wish to show since the lab will be open to all attendees. We typically provide members in the lab with a table that they put in front of their lab space entrance.
Q: Is a demo required if I am tabling?
- A: No! However, we recommend that your exhibit have a visually appealing or informative element, such as a poster, banner, or even a digital display (this includes a rotation of slides).
Q: Will there be a VIP Reception the night before? Can I come?
1. A: Yes, there will be a VIP Reception at a nearby location on November 3. Tickets are reserved for CEOs/Founders only and there is a limit of one ticket per company. Stay tuned for information on how to participate in the VIP Reception.

In Disciplined Entrepreneurship for Climate and Energy Ventures: 24 Steps to Build Solutions for People and the Planet, veteran entrepreneur Bill Aulet, climatetech expert Ben Soltoff, and the faculty behind MIT’s esteemed Climate & Energy Ventures course (Tod Hynes, Francis O’Sullivan, and Libby Wayman) deliver a comprehensive discussion of how to bring a climate or energy startup to life.

The authors will launch this new edition of their bestselling book—the first version focused on climate ventures—at the summit. This session will include an overview of their novel approach to entrepreneurship and a conversation with a Greentown entrepreneur who has leveraged the framework.

Featuring Breakthrough Energy Breakthrough Fellow Monica Krishnan, Alma Energy Principal Hermann Lebit, and Greentown Labs Board Chair, CEO of Artemis Energy Partners, and Chairman of the Houston Energy Transition Initiative at the Greater Houston Partnership Bobby Tudor; moderated by Professor of Public Affairs at University of Texas at Austin Varun Rai.

In the early 2000s, the United States was increasingly dependent on natural gas and oil imports. Prices were rising. Experts sounded alarms about shortfalls.

Then, a technological innovation: combining fracking with horizontal drilling. This breakthrough ushered in the shale revolution—which created hundreds of thousands of jobs, made the United States a top energy exporter, and helped establish Houston as a worldwide energy center.

In this session, we’ll explore how the success of the shale revolution can serve as a roadmap for the next great chapter of energy: the energy transition. What partnerships, policies, and investment models enabled this technology to scale and become cost-effective? What shortfalls can we learn from, and what communities were left behind? And how can the energy transition be an engine for a similar level of innovation, energy abundance, economic impact, and global leadership—all while tackling climate change?
